The Art Gallery of Alberta presents
Celestial Passage (2023) is an augmented reality (AR) that uses the AGA’s Main Hall as a simulated observation site for viewing North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) satellite data in real-time. Visitors can navigate a data portrait of orbiting traffic amongst artificially-generated angels. This AR is superimposed onto planetary symbols fixed onto the walls of Main Hall, mapped to record Pluto’s entry into the constellation Aquarius. The AR re-presents information to audiences while rendering visible the unseen in the public domain of space.

Celestial Passage (2023) is organized by the Art Gallery of Alberta and curated by Lindsey Sharman.
